Library system maintenance - Wednesday 27th March 4pm-10pm

Advance warning - we are going to be having work done on the library servers on Wednesday 27th March between 4pm and 10pm. These services will not be available during this time:

• Library catalogue
• Self service units
• Telephone renewals

Access to the majority of ejournals, databases and ebooks will still be available via Discover or via this link.

Getting to ebooks from DISCOVER - problem solved

We have been having problems getting to the text of an ebook from the DISCOVER results list - we are now pleased to report that this bug has been fixed. Let us know if you have any further trouble accessing resources via DISCOVER.

Getting an error message when trying to search DISCOVER?

If you're getting an error message like this when trying to search DISCOVER, don't panic - try clearing your browser's history.  In Firefox, go to Tools, and Clear Recent History. Then check "Cookies", "Cache", "Active Logins" and "Offline Website Data". Close your browser and then start your search again. If this doesn't help, please let us know.

Trying to access an ebook and getting "This title is not available to your institution"?

We've had some reports of students getting this error when trying to access Dawsonera ebooks:

Unfortunately if you see this message it means the publisher has withdrawn the book from the Ebooks on Demand service. We have removed as many of these as we can but a few have slipped through. If the book looks very useful you can complete a Recommend a Resource form, and we may be able to purchase it for the library.

This is affecting a very small number of the over 60,000 ebooks we have made available.

DISCOVER - problem accessing Dawsonera ebooks (and other links)

We are still having this problem which is affecting links from DISCOVER to Dawsonera ebooks (and also some other resources). We do not yet have a solution for this. However, you can use DISCOVER via this alternative link, on or off campus, and avoid the problem altogether.
