Fair VAT on e-publications for the academic community

The university currently pays VAT at 20% on all the digital resources we buy for you, but we don't have to on printed books and journals. This is holding us back from providing you with more digital resources.  So we are asking you to help us protest against VAT on e-publications for the academic community. Sign this e-petition for us to be able to buy more for you http://t.co/Z6DhU5YJ.

Science Direct workaround

We're still having problems accessing some journal articles in Science Direct, but we do now have a workaround.
Sometimes full text access is not happening when you click the PDF icon:

But if you click the article title instead (e.g. "Virucidal efficacy of hydrogen peroxide vapour disinfection"), you do get through to the full text.

We have reported this issue to the publisher.  If this workaround doesn't work for you, or you have any other problems opening articles, please report them to us at library.technical@beds.ac.uk.

Science Direct update

The problem with Science Direct ejournals seems to be fixed - however if you do have any trouble opening articles please contact us at library.technical@beds.ac.uk with details of the article you are trying to open.

ScienceDirect problems still ongoing

We are still experiencing various problems with ejournals on the ScienceDirect platform, which may cause some journal articles to be temporarily unavailable.  We are chasing this up with the publisher as a matter of urgency.
